If you have any more questions after reading this page, or you think you have a question that should be on here, you can always drop us a line.
Q: I snowboard; can I still join the Ski Club?
A: Of course! We’re just called the “Ski Club” because snowboarding (like most students) hadn’t even been conceived in 1962 when the club was started. Also the “Drink Your Face Off and Fall Down Hills Club” just didn’t have the same ring.
Q: I am from [insert snow-deprived country here] and have never skied/snowboarded in my life, but I want to try it out. What should I do?
A: Our trip to Lake Louise is perfect for you. Louise has a couple really nice easy runs to let you get a feel for the sport. You can also get lessons from an instructor, or head up to Canada Olympic Park for a day lesson. But you definitely want to hit up the mountains while you’re here, otherwise you really will be missing out on what Western Canada has to offer. Check out our trips section for more details.
Q: What’s the difference between the Ski Club and the Snowboard Club?
A: The Snowboard Club is kind of like the upstart bastard love child of the Ski Club and Mission Snowboards. They branched off of us a few years back because of diverging interests when snowboarding started to get really big. They are more serious about hardcore snowboarding (tweeking your backside 1080 grab), whereas we are all about getting people of ALL skill levels out and frankly just having a good time. If you’re looking for awesome parties and great deals on crazy-fun ski/boarding trips, we are your go-to-guys.
Q: Why should I pay $10.00 for a membership? What does that stupid little card do for me?
A: That’s a fair question. There seem to be a lot of clubs out there that want to you buy a membership, but offer very little in return. The Ski Club spends every single penny we pull in on it’s members, and we can get better deals through our contacts and sponsors than students would be able to get on their own. Check out the Membership Perks and see exactly what we can do for you.
Q: I want to get involved in the Ski Club, how do I go about that?
A: Drop us a line, we are always looking for good people, and the ski club is a really fun and beneficial way to get involved. Becoming a Ski Club exec not only gets you some really sweet perks, but also looks really good on your resume or scholarship applications. Keep your eyes open for info about our Junior Exec tryouts at the beginning of each school year.
